Preparing for Your CT Scan

Preparation requirements vary depending on the examination being performed.

  • Wear comfortable clothing and remove metal objects where possible
  • Certain examinations may require recent kidney function blood test results
  • Follow any preparation instructions provided when booking

Yes. All CT Scans require an appointment. Simply call our clinic or send through your referral via our appointment request form, and our friendly Booking Team will arrange a convenient appointment and provide any preparation instructions you may need before your visit.

During the examination, you will lie comfortably on a table that moves through the centre of the CT scanner. The radiographer may provide simple breathing instructions to help capture clear images. Most CT examinations are completed within a few minutes.

Some CT scans require contrast medium to improve visualisation of organs, blood vessels and tissues. This may be given as an injection, a drink, or both. It is not radioactive, and some patients experience a temporary warm sensation or metallic taste during the examination.

Yes. Our Low Dose scans are bulk billed for eligible patients who meet the Medicare criteria and have a valid referral from their GP or specialist. If you’re unsure whether you qualify, please speak with your doctor or contact our friendly team for further information.

Your images will be reviewed by one of our radiologists, with reports typically provided to your referring practitioner within 24 to 48 hours. Urgent examinations are prioritised when clinically required.
